Shadow's history

Shadow the Hedgehog is the "Ultimate Life Form," genetically engineered by Professor Gerald Robotnik aboard the Space Colony ARK 50 years ago. Created using DNA from the alien Black Doom, Shadow was designed to be ageless and immortal to cure Maria Robotnik’s terminal illness. Following a tragic government raid that killed Maria, Shadow was sealed away before awakening to seek vengeance, later becoming a complex anti-hero.Professor Gerald Robotnik created Shadow as part of "Project Shadow" to achieve immortality and cure his granddaughter, Maria, who lived on the ARK.
Due to difficulty, Gerald collaborated with the alien warlord Black Doom, using his blood/DNA to finalize Shadow's creation.
Maria befriended Shadow and humanized him, teaching him that he was created to help humanity.
GUN (Guardian Units of Nations) deemed the project too dangerous and raided the ARK, killing Maria. Before dying, Maria sent Shadow to Earth in an escape pod, asking him to give humanity a chance to be happy.
Overcome with grief, Shadow’s memories were altered, causing him to misinterpret Maria's last wish as a desire for revenge.
Shadow was placed in suspended animation for 50 years by the government before being awakened by Dr. Eggman in Sonic Adventure 2.
In Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Shadow arrives via a meteorite, but the core theme of his tragic connection to Maria remains, with some deviations from the game lore, such as Maria potentially living on Earth.The end of the backstory
